ΑΝΕΣΤΗ ΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ!


Οντως και χωρίς υπερβολή δεκάδες πιστών πλημμύρισαν τους χώρους του Ιερού μας Ναού και τον αυλόγυρο ακόμα και το πεζοδρόμιο την Μεγάλη Παρασκευή το βράδυ για την Ακολουθία του Επιταφίου Θρήνου και την νυχτα Της Ανάστασης να λάβουν Το Φως και να ακούσουν το Χριστός Ανέστη!. 


Ενωμένες οι φωνές σε μία, Χριστός Ανέστη, που όσες φορές και να το πει ο καθείς από μας δεν αρκεί και όπως κάθε χρονιά το ίδιο συνέβη και φέτος. Γεμάτη η Εκκλησιά και στον Εσπερινό της Ανάστασης όσο ποτέ.  


Την Μεγάλη Εβδομάδα με την πανέμορφη και πρόσφατα Αγιογραφημένη Εικόνα του Νυμφίου Χριστού στο κέντρο του Σολέα από την Κυριακή το βράδυ και όλα τα βράδια τελέστηκαν οι Ακολουθίες Του Nυμφίου και οι άλλες που προβλέπονται από το Εκκλησιαστικό μας ημερολόγιο κατά το Τυπικό Της Μεγάλης Του Χριστού Εκκλησίας, το Τροπάριο της (Μοναχής) Κασσιανής με την ιδιαίτερα ευαίσθητη πένα της, το Ευχέλαιο καθώς και τα πρωινά της Μεγ Πέμπτης και Μεγ. Παρασκευής. 


Οπως κάθε χρόνο ζήσαμε το δράμα της Προδοσίας, της Σταύρωσης, της Αποκαθήλωσης . της Ταφής και τον θρίαμβο Της Ανάστασης.


Την Μεγάλη Πέμπτη το βράδυ, μέσα στο βυθισμένο στο σκότος χώρο, ο Πατ. Γρηγόριος, βγήκε από την Βόρεια Πύλη και σαν τον Κυρηναίο Σίμωνα που οι Ρωμαίοι στρατιώτες τον αγγάρεψαν στον Γολγοθά, κρατώντας τον Σταυρό και όχι μόνο, αλλά και την Εικόνα Του Χριστού πάνω του, για να τον φέρει στο μέσο του Ναού που για λίγες ώρες πήρε την θέση της Σταύρωσης. Στιγμές άκρως συγκινητικές και ας επαναλαμβάνονται αδιάλειπτα κάθε χρόνο. Με κομμένη την αναπνοή από δέος ακούσαμε το <Σήμερον κρεμάται....> και τα Δώδεκα Ευαγγέλια


Το Κουβούκλιο που στολίστηκε καλα;iσθητα από χέρια ενοριτών σαν να κεντήθηκε με αγάπη και από αγάπη αναπαραστώντας τον Τάφο Του Χριστού, για να δεχτεί την χρυσοδουλεμένη Εικόνα η οποία απεικονίζει Το Αγιο Του Σώμα, το πρωί της Μεγ. Παρασκευής μετά από την Αποκαθήλωση. Το ίδιο βράδυ τα τρυφερά χεράκια μικρών κοριτσιών που φορούσαν λευκούς χιτώνες <Ερραναν τον τάφον...> με ροδοπέταλα και ακολουθώντας τον Ιερέα, όπως το θέλει η παράδοση, σχηματίστηκε πομπή από το Εκκλησίασμα για την Περιφορά του Επιταφίου προς στον προαύλιο χώρο του Ναού.  


Με την προσμονή της Αναστάσεως την νύχτα του Σαββάτου και με τις λαμπάδες στο χέρι και όπως αναφέρθηκε προηγουμένως σπεύσαμε να λάβουμε το Φως για να βγούμε και πάλι στον αυλόγυρο και να ψάλλουμε το Χριστός Ανέστη, με το μικρό καμπανάκι να συνοδεύει γλυκόηχα την κάθε συλλαβή. 


Επιστρέψαμε στον Ναό και όσοι μείναμε ακούσαμε τον Κατηχητικό Λόγο του Αγ. Ιωάννου με τα τόσο μεστά λόγια και την Απόδειξη για το Πάσχα 2026 Του Οικουμενικού Πατριάρχη κ. κ. Βαρθολομαίου. Ο Ιερατικώς μας Προϊστάμενος μαζί με το Αντίδωρο μοίρασε Πασχαλινά αυγά & κουλουράκια σε όλους που παρέμειναν μέχρι την λήξη της Θ. Λειτουργίας


Στην τραπεζαρία/Σχολική αίθουσα είχε ετοιμαστεί τράπεζα για την καθιερωμένη συνεστίαση, επέκταση της Πασχαλινής Θ. Λειτουργίας. στην οποία παρακάθησαν αρκετοί από τους Εκκλησιαζόμενους.


Περασμένα χαράματα, ξεκινήσαμε για τα σπίτια μας για να επιστρέψουμε σε μερικές ώρες για τον Εσπερινό Της Αγάπης. Ο Πατ. Γρηγόριος, ανέγνωσε την περικοπή του κατά Ιωάννη Αγίου Ευαγγελίου στο πρωτότυπο και ακολούθησε η μετάφραση Του σε πολλές γλώσσες από μέλη του Εκκλησιάσματος. 


Από νωρίς είχαν στηθεί ψησταριές στην αυλή για τον πατροπαράδοτο οβελία και στην Κοινοτική μας Αίθουσα είχαν <στηθεί τα όργανα> από τους μουσικούς μας, φίλους καλούς, για να μας χαρίσουν και πάλι αφιλοκερδώς τραγούδια και κέφι με τις πενιές τους. Η βροχή και το χαλάζι που έριξαν οι ουρανοί δεν μας χάλασε την διάθεση και πότε έξω και πότε μέσα, περάσαμε το Πάσχα με χαρά και αγαλλίαση. Πάσχα Κυρίου Πάσχα!


Ευχαριστώντας τους <κοπιώντες και ψάλλοντες> και όλους που συμμετείχαν με οποιοδήποτε τρόπο για ζήσουμε αυτές τις τόσο σημαίνουσες μέρες και νύχτες στην ζωή της Κοινότητάς μας, ευχόμαστε, Χρόνια Πολλά και ευλογημένα.

CHRIST HAS RISEN!


People filled the inside of our Church to the brim, the courtyard even the pavement outside on the evening and the night of Great Friday for the Service of Lamentations and the night of the Resurrection to receive The Light and to hear CHRISTOS ANESTI! 


Many voices joined in one Christ is Risen, regardless the times the proclamation is repeated, it is never enough, the same happened this year as always does. and as it happens year after year. The Church was full on the Vespers of Love as never before.


On the Great Holy Week, with the beautiful and recently acquired Icon of Nymphios in the centre of the Nave, all evenings from Sunday onwards, following the Ecclesiastical calendar of our Mother Church, the Services of Bridegroom and all other Services were observed. Together with the enchanting Troparion of Kassiani, the Holy Unction and the mornings of Thursday and Friday, our Church offered the opportunity to the members, parishioners and all the Orthodox people in the area to fulfill their religious needs.  


As every year we lived the drama of the Betrayal, the Crucifixion, the Apokathilosis and the Triumph of the Resurrection.


On the night of Great Thursday in the darkness of the Church our priest appeared coming down the steps of the left side of the Altar holding the Cross, as Simon from Cyrene did so many years ago, to bring It to the centre of the Nave, representing the place of the Crucifixion where It would stay until next morning, the morning of Good Friday. The prayers and the movements altgough are repeated every year, did not stop the emotion of the moments.. Holding our breaths in case we missed a word, we heard the Simeron krematai.....and the Twelve Gospels.


The Sepulchre lovingly decorated by the hands of devout parishioners, representing the Tomb of The Lord, was made ready to receive the Body (embroidered with a golden tread cloth Icon, representing the Body of Christ) on the Morning of Good Friday straight after the Service οf the Apokathilosis. The same evening girls of the community showered the "tomb" with petals as the myrrh bearing women did. Followng tradition, with the Priest leading, a procession was formed by the Congregation towards the Churchyard, chanting the Lamentations and the appropriate hymns.   


With the anticipation of the Resurrection on the night of Great Saturday, holding our Easter candles, we proceeded to receive The Light and, as on the previous evening, we went to the Churchyard to chant together Christos Anesti/Christ is Risen accompanied by a handbell.  


We returned to the Church building and all who remained heard the Catechism homily of St. John and the 2026 Pascal Sermon of the Ecumenical Patriarch. After the end of the the H. Liturgy the Very Rev. Archimandrite Gregorios together with the Antidoron gave to all present red eggs and cookies.


In the dining/classrooms, a festive table was prepared so anyone who wished to stay was welcomed to participate to a simple but joyous meal, an extention of the Pascal Holy Liturgy.


We went back to our homes as morning was breaking to return to the Church for the Vespers of love in a few hours. Father Gregorios read the original part of St. John's Gospel and translations of it in many other languages followed by members of the Congregation. 


Earlier on barbecues were set for lambs on the spit, a tradition that started in 1995 in our community. In the Church Hall, our Musician friends once more, were getting ready to offer us hours of music, songs adding to the joyful message of the day. The rain and hailstones that came down from the skies did not deter our good mood. In the open air or inside, we had a good time! 


Thanking all who joined to the effort to make the EASTER 2026 PERIOD, from Chanting, assisting in the Church, setting tables and chairs, singing, dancing, preparing and helping at the barbecue, we send our Best Wishes.

KOINOTIKA NEA - ΕΝΗΜΕΡΩΣΗ - ΑΝΑΚΟΙΝΩΣΕΙΣ

Είμαστε μαζί και πάλι στην τακτική μας επικοινωνία.
Ανακεφαλαιώνοντας τις πρόσφατες δραστηριότητες στην Ενορία μας, αρχίζουμε με ένα μεγάλο Ευχαριστώ στην Καθηγήτρια - Βυζαντινολόγο/Αρχαιολόγο Δρ. Αγγελική Λυμπεροπούλου για την Διάλεξη : Ιστορία και κληρονομιά της Αγίας Σοφίας στην Κωνσταντινούπολη, το Σάββατο βράδυ στις 14 Μαρτίου 2026 μετά τον Εσπερινό στον Ιερό μας Ναό.  Η ομιλία της αξιόλογου καθηγήτριας, μητέρας πρώην μαθήτριας του Σχολείου μας και μέλος της Κοινότητάς μας, που συνοδευόταν από διαφάνειες κίνησε ζωηρό ενδιαφέρον και προσοχή των παρευρισκομένων οι οποίοι έθεσαν ερωτήματα.  Την υπευθυνότητα του συντονισμού της εκδήλωσης, η οποία είναι η δεύτερη στην σειρά των Διαλέξεων στην Κοινότητά μας, < Συζητώντας Ορθοδοξία> είχε ο Ιερατικώς μας Προϊστάμενος,  Πανοσιολογιώτατος  Αρχιμανδρίτης Γρηγόριος και την τεχνική υποστήριξη ο διευθυντής του Σχολείου μας Δρ. Δημ.  Βογιατζής. Ακολούθησε κέρασμα στην αίθουσα που χρησιμεύει ως Σχολική/τραπεζαρία.
Την παραμονή Παρασκευή 13 Μαρτίου εψάλη η Ακολουθία της Γ' Στάσης Των Χαιρετισμών και την επόμενη μέρα, 15 Μαρτίου τρέχοντος τελέστηκαν ο Ορθρος και η Θ. Λειτουργία της Κυριακής Της Σταυροπροσκυνήσεως, όπου ο Ι. Ναός ήταν γεμάτος από το Εκκλησίασμα που ήρθε να συμπροσυχηθεί μαζί μας. Φυσικά και όπως πάντα, ακολούθησε κέρασμα που αποτελεί <επέκταση> και κοινωνικότητα της Θ. Λειτουργίας αφού δίνεται η ευκαιρία στους παρόντες να <πουν δυό κουβέντες>, να ανταλλάξουν απόψεις και να συνομιλήσουν με τον Ιερέα της Κοινότητάς μας, ο οποίος ως γνωστόν διαμένει στο Λονδίνο αλλά βρίσκεται κοντά μας όσο το δυνατό,  συχνά.

COMMUNITY NEWS - UPDATES - ANNOUNCEMENTS

Once more we are reaching out to you with one of our newsletters!

By way of an update on the activities of our Parish, we have to begin with a big thank you to Dr Angeliki Lymberopoulou, Senior Lecturer in Art History at Open University, for the Lecture, “The History and Inheritance of the Church of Agia Sophia in Constantinople”, which took place on Saturday 14 March in the evening, following the Vespers service in Church.  The presentation of this highly respected Academic, who also happens to be the mother of a former student of our Greek school, which was accompanied by PowerPoint slides, aroused the lively attention and interest of those present, and was followed up with questions. The responsibility for coordinating the event, which is the second in the series entitled “Thinking Orthodoxy”, was that of our Priest-in-Charge, V. Rev. Archimandrite Gregorios, with technical support from our School Headmaster, Dr Dimitrios Vogiatzis. A reception followed in the area in the church which serves as a school classroom and dining area.

On the evening of Friday 13 March the Service of the 3rd Stasis of the Salutations to the Mother of God was sung, and on Sunday 15 March Matins and Divine Liturgy for Sunday of the Veneration of the Holy Cross were celebrated, for which the church was filled with the congregation who had gathered together in prayer as community.  Afterwards, a reception followed, which forms a type of liturgy after the Liturgy, and thus makes an extension to our worship and helps us grow as a community.  Those who remain for refreshments have the opportunity to have a good chat both with friends and newcomers, to exchange views, and to get an opportunity to speak to the Priest of community in person, who despite joining us as often as possible, lives and works in London as we already know.

Σαββατοκύριακο 31 Ιανουαρίου - Κυριακή 1 Φεβρουαρίου 2026


Με έναν θερμό χαιρετισμό είμαστε και πάλι μαζί και υπενθυμίζουμε πως το Σάββατο 31/1/26, στις 6μμ.  θα τελεστεί ο Εσπερινός της Κυριακής. Ο Εσπερινός αυτός, της Κυριακής του Τελώνου & Φαρισαίου, σηματοδοτεί την έναρξη του Τριωδίου, τονίζοντας την ταπείνωση έναντι της υπερηφάνειας. Το Τριώδιο τοποθετείται στο Αναλόγιο και παραμένει εκεί μέχρι και το Μεγάλο Σάββατο, πριν την Ανάσταση.


Την Κυριακή 1/2/26 Θα τελεστεί Ορθρος που αρχίζει στις 9πμ και θα ακολουθήσει η Θεία Λειτουργία Τελώνου & Φαρισαίου. Στην συνέχεια και μετά το πέρας της Θ. Λειτουργίας θα τιμήσουμε την μνήμη των Τριών Ιεραρχών γιορτάζοντας με τους/τις μαθητές και μαθήτριες και τους εκπαιδευτικούς του Σχολείου μας παρόντες. Η ζωντανή παρουσία του Σχολείου μας θα δώσει την πρέπουσα τιμή στους Τρεις Ιεράρχες αφού,  οι Αγιοι,   Βασίλειος ο Μέγας,  Θεολόγος Γρηγόριος και  Ιωάννης ο Χρυσόστομος είναι οι προστάτες των Ελληνικών Γραμμάτων και της παιδείας.

ANNOUNCEMENTS - UPDATES - COMMUNICATION
Weekend of 31st January - 1st February 2026



We would like to extend, once again, our greetings to you, and to provide a small reminder about the forthcoming Weekend.


On Saturday 31/1/26 the Vespers for Sunday of the Tax Collector and the Pharisee will take place at 6pm. These Vespers mark the start of the period of Triodion,  setting  the emphasis of humility above pride. The Ecclesiastical book of the Triodion is placed on the Chanter's stand and remains in place until Holy Saturday up to the eve of Resurrection. 


On Saturday, 1/2/26, Orthros followed by the Holy Liturgy will start at 9am. After the end of the H. Liturgy the Feast of the Three Hierarchs, Sts Basileios the Great, Gregorios the Theologian and Ioannis Chrysostomos ("Golden-mouthed") will be celebrated. As these three Major Saints of the  Orthodoxy are the protectors and patrons of Hellenic language and literature, the School of our Community will be not only participating, but will be having a significant role in the festivities, being present together with their teachers, honouring this Celebration.
